Cardiff Airport

Cardiff Airport is an international airport serving Cardiff and the rest of South, Mid and West Wales. Around 1.1 million passengers passed through the airport last year, Cardiff Airport has over 50 direct destinations and more than 800 one-stop destinations around the world. In fact it is the only airport in Wales which offers international scheduled flights. It is also served by scheduled, low-fare, business & charter carriers, support corporate and general aviation. The majority numbers of international flights are to Spain, Ireland and the Netherlands. The Cardiff airport is a base for Citywing, Thomson Airways and Thomas Cook Airlines. Thomson Airways is the substantial carrier to use the airport in terms of passenger numbers, whilst Flybe has the largest number of movements. From January 2014, Cityjet will be based at Cardiff and have huge number of movements by March 2014.

The airport is 10 miles from the M4. From M4 junction 33 (Cardiff West), it is reached via the A4232, followed by A4050 and A4226 or you can go from the M4, Junction 37, following A48 past Cowbridge then south along the A4226. There is an alternative through an unmarked route A48 and A4226 to the airport.

In 2006 the airport underwent a massive enhancement programme and has been voted twice as one of the Top 10 Best UK Airports in the Telegraph Travel Awards. The airport lies in an area defined by the Welsh Assembly Government as a centre for aviation excellence by several high-profile aviation companies being located in a small radius.
